JOMFRUBURET

Jomfruburet (literally “The Maiden Cage”) is an old-fashioned Danish word for a serving girl’s room. This room has recently been renovated by Princess Alexandra and contains a mix of the princess’s and the count’s furniture. Jomfruburet is connected to the Captain’s Room, making an excellent pair of rooms for guests who visit with their children. The magnificent bed dates all the way back to the 1600s and was the bed Count Michael slept in as a child.

FUN FACT

The four pictures on the wall represent the four corners of the world and what they are best known for. Hans Christian Andersen visited Egeskov on two occasions, and during one of these visits he described these four pictures and several other paintings that can still be seen at Egeskov today.
