The Princess’ Christmas Table

09.11 time 00:00 - 30.12 time 00:00

Christmas Exhibition

In the former noble stables, you can see imaginative decorations and a Christmas table inspired by the universe of forest elves.

This year, Princess Alexandra zu Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg has drawn inspiration from the nature and animals of the forest, such as little mice and other creatures bustling around the forest elves as they prepare for Christmas. The forest elves are at play in the decorations, where anything is possible. Pine, cones, fruits, the scent of cinnamon and cloves, and candlelight are some of the elements you can experience when you visit this year’s Christmas exhibition at Brasserie Rigborg at Egeskov.

Once again, Princess Alexandra has been helped by a close friend and the gardening team with the decorations, which include handmade mushrooms and other ornaments inspired by the forest. The tradition of a creative Christmas table is something Princess Alexandra has cherished throughout her life and has brought with her to Egeskov Castle.

When the family gathers at the castle during the Christmas holidays, both family and guests should feel the magical atmosphere that belongs to Christmastime. Especially for my grandmother and my mother, Christmas was a very important time of the year. The family had to gather for coziness and togetherness around the Christmas table, which was imaginatively decorated, to the great joy of us all,” Princess Alexandra says about her memories of Christmas.”

You are warmly welcome to experience the Christmas table and decorations at Egeskov Christmas Market as well as during the winter opening in December.
