The gardens at Egeskov are constantly evolving. Over time, renowned garden architects have contributed to the development of the garden layout. The first major garden was established in the first half of the 18th century. Inspiration came from near and far; Frederiksborg, Fredensborg, Versailles and others. The ambitions continued under the current head gardener, Peter Bonde Poulsen, who for around 30 years has left a distinct mark on the gardens. Notable examples include the Perennial Garden, the Fragrance Garden and the Rose Garden. Princess Alexandra has been responsible for the garden’s design and artistic expression.
