Explore the rooms and decide for yourself where your tour should begin and end. Egeskov Castle has 66 rooms. However, not all rooms are open to visitors, as the castle is also a private home for the Ahlefeldt-Laurvig-Bille family.
StartGround level
Explore the castle's ground floor, where you can experience the building's original hall and reception room. From here, you can explore the Louis XVI salon to the north, adorned with original effects and items from the 18th and 19th centuries.
First floor
Step into the castle's first floor and experience the original Renaissance hall, which has hosted numerous grand festivities. From here, you will be guided to the castle's guest and tower rooms, where you can find, among others, Jomfru (Maiden) Rigborg's room and Titania's Palace.
The attic
On the two-level attic, you can see an exhibition of duel pistols on the lower level. From here, you can ascend to the large attic space, where you are completely under the roof and the supporting beams. Here, you can, among other things, see the family's service and kitchen ware from the 19th century
The stair tower
In the castle's original entrance hall, you can see clear signs of the building's use as a defensive structure, as well as closely examine portraits of the Bille family from the 18th century. Additionally, you can view a number of artifacts from ancient times at Egeskov.
The buildings of Egeskov
Here, you are outside the walls of Egeskov Castle and can delve into the historical use and layout of the castle grounds. At the same time, you can learn about the farm buildings and the area outside the castle moat, where Egeskov's village community existed for centuries
